TESL certification, Teaching English as a Second Language.
Focuses on teaching English to refugees or immigrants living in English speaking countries who are not native English speakers. This makes having TESL certification especially important in the United States with the growing number of immigrants in the U.S.
TESL instruction goes beyond teaching communication, but often basic literacy and life skills are necessary in order to instruct students in TESL settings.
For this reason, it is not required to have a degree limited to the education field, however having a degree is highly recommended to work in this area of English language teaching. The TESL training is even created with “non teachers” in mind.
